Banneker Homes is located in the heart of the Western Addition and was built in Equal Housing Opportunity1969 as affordable housing.
* Banneker is a multifamily complex consisting of 108 apartments
* Banneker is overseen by a seven member Board of Directors and is currently managed by Alton Management Corporation
In 1998, Banneker applied for and received a HUD Drug Elimination Grant in the amount of $125,000.
This grant enabled the property to open a Neighborhood Network Program which included an In-house Computer Learning Center.
The NNP/CLC provided programs for the property's residents, as well as the outlining community.
The program was unique, not only did the CLC provide basic computer training but it also provided the residents the opportunity to learn the repair of donated computer equipment.
