2013-2014 HAP Manual UpdatesEdit

The 2013-2014 HAP Manual has many changes that are not currently part of SFHomeless.net. The question is whether the wiki or the manual contains the most up to date information. The most efficient way to ensure the wiki has the best information is to add the 2013-2014 HAP Manual text into its respective wiki agency page under a new section “2013-2014 HAP Manual Updates”. It will then be up to future wiki users to determine whether and how to update the agency page with the new information.

FCA offers a comprehensive range of services for partners, spouses, and other family members and friends who are caregivers of individuals with adult-onset brain impairing illnesses. FCA offers information and referral, family consultation, caregiver skills classes, support groups, respite programs, on-line services, counseling, education, and training. Diagnoses include the following: Alzheimer’s disease, other types of dementia, Stroke, Acquired Brain Injury/Traumatic Brain Injury, Huntington’s disease and other adult-onset conditions involving cognitive impairment. With funding from The National Family Caregivers Act, FCA serves caregivers who are taking care of a family member or friend who is 60 years old or older, regardless of diagnosis. Services are available in Spanish, Mandarin, and Cantonese.

To obtain support and information about caregiving, call the toll-free number or e-mail: info@caregiver.org. A Family Consultant will speak with you about your caregiving situation, provide emotional support, and offer information about community programs, such as daycare and support groups. If you wish, you can ask to meet with an FCA Family Consultant (Family Consultants have master's degrees in social work or gerontology) for an in-depth home assessment and care planning session, including referral to our other services. FCA is a nonprofit organization; all services are free or low-cost.
