The Food Stamps program provides individuals who meet financial and non-financial guidelines, an Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card which may be used to purchase food items. Amount given to each individual or family vary based on house hold income and dependents.

Eligibility Requirements are as follows: San Francisco resident, citizen of the U.S. or qualifying legal resident alien; or a U.S. Veteran or active military or their spouse or children.

Individuals on SSI are not eligible for food stamps in California.

College students (age 18-49) may be eligible if working 20 hours per week or in a college work study program, disabled or caring for a child. Individuals 60 years of age or over or disabled may have income somewhat higher than the standards listed above if they have high rent cost and/or medical expenses.

You may get Expedited Services if you are otherwise eligible, depending on household gross monthly income and liquid resources. Proof of identification prior to receiving Expedited Services is required. Regular Food Stamps are processed within 30 days.
