SF HICAP (Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program) is funded by the State of California to provide assistance to people enrolled in or eligible for Medicare. Volunteer HICAP counselors provide free one-on-one counseling about Medicare benefits and consumer rights, supplemental insurance plan choices, billing and claims problems, and other Medicare-related health insurance issues to support the independence of people making choices that affect their health and financial well-being. Volunteer positions for special community education and long term care insurance counseling are also available.

SF HICAP is looking for motivated volunteers to help senior citizens and people with disabilities in San Francisco understand their Medicare health insurance benefits and current changes.

2013-2014 HAP Manual UpdatesEdit

The 2013-2014 HAP Manual has many changes that are not currently part of SFHomeless.net. The question is whether the wiki or the manual contains the most up to date information. The most efficient way to ensure the wiki has the best information is to add the 2013-2014 HAP Manual text into its respective wiki agency page under a new section “2013-2014 HAP Manual Updates”. It will then be up to future wiki users to determine whether and how to update the agency page with the new information.
